Where are they now?

Katie S.

Throughout the 2010 season Revolution fans got to know the players and dancers very well, especially those fans that had seats along the playing walls.  One of the dancers that our fans got to know was Katie.

Katie is a 2008 graduate of Radford, where she studied Public Relations as well as Dance.  She grew up in Richmond, attending Douglass Freeman High School.  She is currently an Account Coordinator for an Ad Agency here in town.  Since the season ended she has been working, spending time with family and friends, reading, doing pilates and dance of all kind.

For more information on booking the Darlings at your next event call the Revolution offices at (804)595-8437.  Tryouts for next season's team will be in the fall, check out the Revolution website or the Darlings of the Revolution Facebook page for more information.

Where are they now: Rodney Landers

Where are they now?
Rodney Landers
As a Senior at James Madison University, Rodney Landers was used to being the star on the field.  During the 2008 season Landers helped to lead the Dukes to the number 1 ranking among FCS (Div 1-AA) schools, wins over 7 Top 10 teams and an appearance in the National Semifinals.  His season of over 3,200 total yards and 37 touchdowns propelled him to the Dudley Award as well as a finalist for the Walter Payton award.

When the season started for the Revolution however, Rodney was left as the backup Quarterback behind Bryan Randall, the eventual IFL MVP.  Landers did not let this slow him down though as he became an extremely important and effective player for the Revolution.  Playing in all 14 games of the regular season, Rodney was able to contribute all over the field.

At QB, Rodney only threw one pass, completing it for 13 yards, but his running ability out of the backfield, as a running back and lined up as the QB proved to be just as valuable.  Rodney finished 4th on the team in rushing with 111 yards, and third on the team with 3 rushing touchdowns.  Throughout the season Randall became increasingly more confident throwing the Rodney, in the end totaling 24 receptions for 211 yards and 5 touchdowns, all of which ranked 4th on the team.

Rodney was also very useful in the kicking game, serving as the 3rd kick returner after Demarcus James and Larry Williams, finishing 3rd on the team with 149 yards returning.  He also chipped in 12 tackles on special teams.

Overall, Rodney finished 5th on the team in All Purpose Yards with 471, 5th in touchdowns with 8, and 5th in scoring with 50 points.  In the Revolution's playoff game against Rochester, Landers actually led the team in yards, with 5 catches for 45 yards and a touchdown and 60 yards in the return game.  He also had 3 tackles on special teams.

This past weekend Rodney worked out for, along with fellow Revolution players Bryan Randall, Vince Hall and Louis Corum, the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League.

For more information on Rodney, to obtain pictures from the season of him, or access to his game film, please call the Revolution at (804)595-8437.

Where are they now: Darling of the Revolution Lindsey

Where are they now?

Lindsey

Throughout the 2010 season Revolution fans got to know the players and dancers very well, especially those fans that had seats along the playing walls.  One of the dancers that our fans got to know was Lindsey.

Lindsey is a 2006 Real Estate Major graduate of VCU, after transferring from Radford.  She was able to start her career in Real Estate in May of 2006 when she started working for local Real Estate company Thalhimer as a leasing and sales associate specializing in retail properties.

Lindsey joined the Darlings of the Revolution dance team at the first tryout held in November of 2009, and was named a line captain prior to the first game of the season on March 13.  Since the beginning of the season Lindsey has been making appearances with the rest of the dance team at various events around town including the Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics and recently at the Summer Movie Nights at the Westhampton School.

Currently Lindsey is taking a hip-hop dance class at the Premiere Dance Studio along with many other members of the Darlings.  Premiere Dance Studio in Powhatan is the Official Dance Studio of the Darlings of the Revolution.  For more information on booking the Darlings at your next event call the Revolution offices at (804)595-8437.  Tryouts for next season's team will be in the fall, check out the Revolution website or the Darlings of the Revolution Facebook page for more information.

Where are they now: Louis Corum

Where are they now?

Revolution Linebacker Louis Corum
On November 1, 2009, the Richmond Revolution held their second open player tryout, at RISE, the indoor sports facility owned by SportsQuest.  The purpose of the tryout was to get all potential players for the team on one field and see if anyone was good enough to get signed.  Of the 25 players that tried out that day, only 4 were signed.  From those 4, only 2 made the final 30 man roster at the end of training camp.  One of the players was WR Joshua Floyd (Chowan), and he was dealt to the West Texas Roughnecks a few weeks into the season.  The other was LB Louis Corum (Shepherd).  Louis almost didn't make the tryout, driving down to Richmond from West Virginia with a friend, he was in a car accident on the way.  Making multiple phone calls to the Revolution staff, Louis was able to get to the tryout late and still participate.

This was not the first time Louis had been involved with a professional tryout.  Following a standout career at Shepherd University, where Corum won 3 WVIAC Championships, earned WVIAC All Conference honors and was named a Division II Player of the week, he was invited to workout with the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers over the summer, as well as the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League.

When Revolution training camp opened on February 20, 2010, Corum was one of 45 players attempting to make the team, trying not to get lost in the shuffle of higher profile players such as DB Demarcus James, the 2009 IFL Special Teams Player of the Year, DE Sherman Logan, who played for the National Champion Richmond Spiders, or DE Noland Burchette, just one of the many players on the roster from Virginia Tech.  Corum, however, impressed the coaches enough to make the team, and went on to start 13 games for the Revolution, as well as their only playoff game.

Corum impressed throughout the season, quickly becoming a fan favorite due to his hard hits, many of which caused his helmet to fly off.  Over the13 games Louis played in he totaled 59 tackles, which ranked 5th on the team, and added 5 during the playoff game, good for 3rd.  Louis also contributed 6.5 sacks, ranking 2nd behind DE Jason Holman's 9.5.  His 3 interceptions were second on the team behind Demarcus James' leading leading 10.  He also led the team in forced fumbles, 2, and ranked 4th on the with 9 passes broken up.

Since the season ended on June 28th, Corum has fielded calls from various European football teams, and his agent is still in talks with the Atlanta Falcons.  Currently Louis is playing for the Semi-Pro Chambersburg Cardinals, where he is a starting Linebacker.

"I loved my time in Richmond this year, and I really loved interacting with the fans.", Corum said.  "I wish we could have gone further in the playoffs, but it was great to be a part of a team that was this much fun.  I was very glad to be given an opportunity by the team to come here and play."

Louis is currently living in Manassas, VA, and has a 14 month old daughter Mariah.  For more information on Louis, to obtain pictures from the season of him, or access to his game film please call the Revolution at (804)595-8437.
